A Florida man is behind bars amid the search for his wife, a missing mother of five, who they believe to be in danger.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is currently on the lookout for Kayla Bailey, a newborn photographer who was last spotted at her home located off Maxville Boulevard in Maxville on Sunday.

She was reported missing Monday and reportedly left the home alone, on foot.

Kajoshua Bailey, 40, was detained by police on Tuesday and faces charges that involve breaching an injunction for protection against domestic violence as well as violating probation related to a felony, reported by Action News Jax.

Before his arrest, Joshua Bailey told the outlet that he visited a Sunoco on U.S. 301, near Maxville, after Kayla’s phone last pinged there.

“We hoped to simply bring her back home, as the children needed to continue attending school and maintain their routine,” he expressed. “We initiated the search immediately, sensing something was amiss.”

His arrest isn’t related to his wife’s disappearance, police said. However, a JSO incident report indicated that the couple had been having issues.

Kayla’s mother, Lisa Lucas, said she has previously vanished around three weeks earlier, but returned home days later.

According to First Coast News, Kayla’s daughter recalled her leaving earlier with her other children due to Joshua Bailey “being untruthful about taking his medication,” and the lack of water availability at home.

In her most recent disappearance, police said she took her driver’s license but left her purse and wallet behind.

The authorities describe Kayla as being approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 250 pounds. She has green eyes and blonde/strawberry hair, and was last seen in a black romper, wearing glasses and brown shoes.

Anyone with information on Kayla’s whereabouts should contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
