A Florida man celebrated his birthday last week by smoking methamphetamine and stealing a Key West tour train for a joyride.

On July 4, Jonathan Patrick Winslow celebrated his 57th birthday by taking a stolen Conch Train for a ride through the streets of Key West, even picking up passengers along the way, as reported by WPLG.

The police were alerted when employees from the Conch Tour Train Depot noticed the train was missing at approximately 11:30 a.m. and tracked its whereabouts downtown using the GPS installed on the vehicle.

Winslow left his own vehicle behind, still running “with rock music playing on the radio.”

Employees said Winslow had come in and claimed to be a former employee, asking for a tour of the train. Then he got in and drove off.

Police stated that another worker eventually located the train near Duval and United streets, and Winslow had already picked up “two random passengers” during his ride.

They found Winslow near the Southernmost Point Buoy, where he “exhibited rapid speech and appeared excited.” He claimed merely to have “borrowed” the train when police informed him he was facing charges. He said he used to work for the Conch Train company and “today is his birthday.”

At the jail, police found a pipe in Winslow’s pocket, which he claimed was “a weed pipe.” But police found it was actually a meth pipe.

Winslow has been charged with burglary, grand theft auto, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s being held on a $60,000 bond.
