A Florida woman was arrested on Monday for forcing her 11-year-old daughter to perform sexual acts on video.
On Friday, authorities in Pinellas County discovered a 38-year-old man involved in acquiring child pornography and arranging meetings with minors for sexual activities. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri reported that the man was receiving video footage from a woman who recorded her underage daughter engaging in sexual acts with herself and with a dog, as stated by WTSP.
The mother, who has not been publicly identified, was also accused of filming herself sexually abusing her daughter and dog with sex toys.
Gualtieri said the mother sent 14 illicit videos, which were produced in March and April.
“The things that the mother did to the daughter are graphic and they are grotesque,” he said, according to WTVT.
Gualtieri said officers who executed a search warrant on Monday arrested the mother after she confessed to sexually abusing her daughter.
The mother now faces charges including capital sexual battery, molestation, distribution of child pornography, sexual performance by a child, sexual activity with both a child and animals, aggravated child abuse, and improper use of a communication device.
In 2023, Florida enacted legislation allowing the death penalty for cases of sexual battery involving victims under the age of 12. According to Gualtieri, this particular case qualifies under the statute.
“These actions amount to sexual battery, commonly known as rape, and given the child’s age, the mother’s offenses are capital crimes that warrant the death penalty,” he stated.
Gualtieri noted that there are no signs of involvement from the victim’s sibling and the father was likely unaware of the abuse.
The mother and the male suspect are suspected to have connected online. Investigations are underway to determine the financial transactions between them and to assess if the videos were distributed to others, according to WFLA.
The woman had her first court appearance on Tuesday and was ordered to remain jailed.
