New clue as manhunt continues over deadly Sydney stabbing

New CCTV has been released as police investigate a fatal stabbing in Sydney’s south-west earlier this year.

At about 9pm on Saturday, March 15, emergency services were called to a home on Lakemba Street, Belmore.

Police and paramedics found a man who was unresponsive, and a second man providing medical help.

The first man died at the scene. He has since been identified as James Pakis, 34.

The second man, aged 24, was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

A post-mortem found Pakis had suffered multiple stab wounds.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on March 17. He was charged with murder and remains before the courts.

Police have now released CCTV images of a person, wearing black clothing and carrying a blue bag, who was picked up by a car on a nearby street.

The car is described as a black Honda Jazz, with damage to the rear windscreen.

Police wish to find the car and speak to the people who were inside it, as they believe it may help the investigation.
