Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – An 18-year-old named Tayana Nalany Lebron-Alvira was taken into custody this morning for charges of disorderly conduct and battery against an officer following an altercation at a bar in downtown Gainesville.

At approximately 1:03 a.m. on August 3, a security personnel from an undisclosed downtown bar flagged down a Gainesville Police Department officer near University Avenue and Main Street. The security guard indicated that Lebron-Alvira was being escorted out for engaging in a scuffle with multiple patrons.

As the officer attempted to assess the situation, Lebron-Alvira reportedly broke free from the security guard, approached a passerby, and struck the woman in the face before kicking her legs.

With a crowd forming, the officer handcuffed Lebron-Alvira to prevent her from further assaults; however, she allegedly managed to release one hand and began hitting others around her.

The officer claimed that Lebron-Alvira persistently resisted, leading him to restrain her on the ground to secure the handcuffs again. Upon assisting her to her feet, she allegedly spun and kicked the officer in the chest, making various attempts to slap him. Backup officers were summoned to apply a rip hobble to her legs.

Lebron-Alvira now faces charges of battery against a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and non-violent resistance to an officer. She has no prior adult criminal records, and Judge Tatum Davis has set her bail at $17,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
