Gainesville Man Arrested for Deliberate Vandalism of Corvette and Scooter at Local Apartment Complex

Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Raja Gavrael Weise, 32, found himself behind bars following allegations of vandalizing a Corvette and “completely destroying” a scooter at Crossings at Santa Fe.

On March 7, around 6:30 p.m., an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to Crossings at Santa Fe, located at 3205 NW 83rd St., after reports that Weise walked up to a 1997 Corvette, removed its cover, and dragged it away. Moments later, Weise allegedly returned to the vehicle, approached the front, and delivered a powerful kick to the hood with his heel. This action resulted in a substantial crack on one of the headlight covers, with the Corvette’s owner estimating the damage to exceed $1,000.

The deputy noted that surveillance footage captured the entire event.

A few hours later, around 8 p.m., Weise was accused of “completely destroying” a scooter. The owner’s daughter reportedly witnessed the act from the balcony of the family’s apartment.

Despite being read his Miranda rights, Weise reportedly denied causing any harm to the vehicles or the scooter. However, when confronted with the existence of video evidence, he suggested the footage might be AI-generated.

Weise has been charged with felony property damage and misdemeanor property damage. He has no local criminal convictions, but two 2023 arrests for battery can no longer be found in the court system. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered him released on his own recognizance.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
