Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jon Calvin Graham, 66, was arrested early this morning on warrants for stealing scooters and pawning a stolen camera.

In December 2023, officers from the Gainesville Police Department reported observing him riding two stolen scooters on Gainesville roads. They then proceeded to his apartment, where they reportedly found “multiple other scooters in various stages of repair and disassembly.” Graham was said to be without a key, bill of sale, or title for any of the scooters, with several ignition systems having been tampered with.

After being read his Miranda rights, Graham reportedly denied having stolen the scooters and claimed he was unaware they were stolen. He did acknowledge riding two of the scooters despite having a suspended license.

A sworn complaint was filed, and a warrant for his arrest was issued on September 10, 2025.

On February 20, 2025, a woman reported that her residence was burglarized and items, including a Canon camera valued at $700, were stolen.

On February 21, Graham allegedly pawned the camera, using his driver’s license and confirming his identity via his thumbprint. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy interviewed Graham on March 11, and post Miranda, he reportedly claimed that someone had given him the camera, which he agreed to pawn in exchange for marijuana. He received $125 for the camera. Subsequently, a sworn complaint was filed, and an arrest warrant was issued on September 15.

Graham was detained early this morning at his Bailey Village home. He has been charged with two counts of grand theft of a vehicle, dealing in stolen property, and knowingly providing false information on a pawn transaction form.

Graham’s criminal history includes 10 felony convictions (six of which are violent) and 17 misdemeanor convictions (eight violent); he has served three terms in state prison, with his last release occurring in 1997. Judge Jonathan Ramsey set his bail at $80,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed originate from the arrest report and/or court records and are merely accusations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
