GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alejandro Luis Figeroa, 27, was taken into custody yesterday, accused of aiming a revolver at a woman who was passing through Tom Petty Park.
On September 22, around 5:57 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer arrived at Tom Petty Park (413 NE 16th Avenue) following a report from the victim who stated that she had a previous confrontation with Figueroa months ago. As she was walking in the park, she noticed him in the driver’s seat of a white pickup truck. According to her, he pulled out a small black revolver and aimed it at her chest, prompting her to flee the area, fearing he might open fire.
A witness reportedly corroborated the victim’s story.
The officer found Figeroa standing next to a white pickup truck and reported that there was a small black revolver on the passenger seat.
After being read his Miranda rights, Figeroa allegedly claimed he had not been involved in any disputes at the park. He mentioned that he visits the park after work to unwind but typically refrains from interacting with others.
Figeroa faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He has no prior criminal convictions, and Judge Sheree Lancaster has set his bail at $25,000.
Reports about arrests are compiled from information provided by law enforcement agencies. The charges outlined come from arrest documents and/or court records and remain allegations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
