In a disturbing case that has shaken the Gainesville community, 44-year-old Sky Ahren Moyer was arrested on serious charges involving sexual misconduct with a minor. The allegations date back several years when the victim was just 13, but it wasn’t until recently that these incidents came to light, prompting an investigation by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation was launched following a report to the Department of Children and Families. The victim recounted a harrowing series of events, claiming that Moyer had sent her sexually explicit messages and images, offered to buy her sex toys, and exposed her to pornographic material. The victim further alleged that Moyer’s actions escalated into sexual assault. Compounding these allegations, Moyer reportedly took photos of the victim and manipulated them digitally to remove her clothing, raising fears of potential distribution of these images.

In a post-Miranda interview, Moyer denied any sexual contact with the victim but was uncertain about the presence of nude photographs of her on his electronic devices. He did, however, reportedly concede to purchasing and giving at least one sex toy to the victim.

The investigation led to a search of Moyer’s residence, where deputies reportedly uncovered several items corroborating the victim’s account. As a result, Moyer now faces an array of charges, including four counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a minor between the ages of 12 and 16, lewd and lascivious conduct and exhibition, showing obscene material to a minor, and using a two-way communications device to commit a felony.

Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at Moyer’s residence and reportedly found several objects that matched the descriptions provided by the victim.

Moyer has been charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 16, lewd and lascivious conduct, lewd and lascivious exhibition with a victim under the age of 16, showing obscene material to a minor, and using a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony.

Moyer has no local criminal history. Judge Kristine Van Vorst ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
