Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a dramatic turn of events, 26-year-old Michelle Elizabeth Boone was taken into custody following accusations of assaulting two colleagues at her workplace. The alleged incident occurred after Boone was dismissed from her position, sparking a series of confrontational actions involving a metal pipe and an electric scooter.

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office detailed that the incident unfolded around 4:30 p.m. on December 2 at a Burger King located on NW 39th Avenue. Boone, upon receiving news of her termination, reportedly directed a barrage of profanities at two co-workers. Concerned, these co-workers followed her to ensure she exited the premises safely.

As Boone was leaving, one co-worker courteously held the door open for her. However, Boone allegedly responded by hurling her electric scooter at him, hitting him in the groin. The situation escalated when another colleague attempted to guide Boone off the property. Boone allegedly retaliated by approaching his truck in an attempt to cause damage. When the co-worker challenged her actions, Boone purportedly retreated into a nearby wooded area, retrieved a metal pipe, and struck him on the shoulder. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the injured co-worker was visibly in pain, struggling to move his right arm.

Authorities discovered a two-foot metal pipe at the scene, which the injured co-worker identified as the weapon used in the assault. A witness corroborated the account, stating she observed Boone wielding the pipe and attacking the second co-worker.

A witness reportedly told the deputy that she saw Boone pick up the metal pipe and hit the second co-worker.

Another deputy reportedly saw a black female riding a scooter southbound on NW 91st Street a short time later and attempted a traffic stop, but Boone allegedly refused to stop and was eventually arrested at about 6:25 p.m. in an open field on the Santa Fe College campus.

Post Miranda, Boone reportedly admitted to hitting the first co-worker, hitting the second co-worker with a metal pipe, and “running” from the traffic stop.

Boone has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing with lights and sirens active, and battery. She has one non-violent misdemeanor conviction. Judge Meshon Rawls ordered her held without bail on the aggravated battery charge, pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing. Judge Rawls set bail at $35,000 on the other two charges.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
