In the recent UNC-Chapel Hill shooting, a graduate student at the University of North Carolina went to a classroom building and shot his faculty adviser before leaving.

Graduate Student Suspect Of The UNC-Chapel Hill Shooting Left Building After Killing Adviser; Suspect Named|WYFF

The 34-year-old graduate student allegedly responsible for the UNC-Chapel Hill shooting has been identified.

The alleged UNC-Chapel Hill shooting suspect, Tailei Qi, has been charged with first-degree murder and possessing a firearm on school property. The charges are related to the killing of Zijie Yan, during the UNC-Chapel Hill shooting on Monday.

The Chapel Hill police successfully apprehended the alleged UNC-Chapel Hill shooting suspect, Qi without using force, according to UNC Police Chief, Brian James.

The alleged suspect of the UNC-Chapel Hill shooting was arrested in a residential area near the campus two hours after the said shooting.

Investigators were still trying to determine the motive that led to the UNC-Chapel Hill shooting incident.

In an AP News article, UNC Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz referred to the UNC-Chapel Hill shooting victim, Zijie Yan, as a beloved colleague, mentor, and friend to many on campus.

In memory of Yan, the school will ring its Bell Tower on Wednesday afternoon and encourage students to observe a moment of silence. Additionally, classes have been canceled until Thursday, AP News added.

The alleged UNC-Chapel Hill shooting suspect Tailei Qi appeared in court for the first time in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
