Wife's plea over camera after husband killed in Bondi terror attack
The widow of a much loved rugby figure and photographer killed in the Bondi terror attack has pleaded for his camera to be returned after revealing it remains missing after the shooting.

Virginia Meagher has made a heartfelt plea to the public following the tragic death of her husband, Peter, 61, who was acting as a photographer at the Chanukah by the Sea event. On the day of the incident in December, Peter’s camera went missing, and Virginia is seeking help in locating it.

In a poignant message posted on Facebook, Virginia expressed her deep desire to recover the camera, which holds significant sentimental value. “As many of you know, my husband Peter’s life was tragically taken at Bondi on December 14. It seems that someone, not associated with any official authority, took his camera from Archer Park,” she wrote.

Virginia is reaching out to anyone who might have information about the missing Canon camera. “I would very much like to have his camera returned,” she appealed. “If you know anything about the Canon camera, I’d love to hear from you.”

To aid in the search, she shared photographs of Peter using the camera, hoping to jog memories and encourage the return of an item that holds cherished memories of her late husband.

She shared photos of her husband using the camera.

“Gun reform alone will not solve hatred or extremism, but an antisemite without a gun is just a hate-filled person,” he said.

Peter was a highly decorated police detective as well as a loving family man and pillar of the Randwick rugby club.

Virginia said at his funeral: “Every text message, WhatsApp and voicemail from Peter begins with ‘hi darling’ and ends with ‘I love you’.”
