Recently released CCTV footage reveals some of the last known moments of a mother from Logan and her infant daughter before they were tragically discovered deceased in their home located south of Brisbane.
Police officers, who arrived at the scene in response to injuries sustained by an individual named Seers, intended to inform his family but instead found the bodies of Paterson and her daughter, April. They bore “injuries consistent with an edged weapon,” according to Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn’s statement yesterday.
Earlier that day, surveillance cameras captured the 38-year-old mother carrying her one-year-old daughter as they took what may have been their final walk home together on Wednesday afternoon.
Seers is currently hospitalized under police supervision, following his admission in a serious condition.
This afternoon, over 200 people gathered in mourning for a candlelight vigil to honor the beloved primary school teacher.
Both former and current students attended the vigil, expressing their support and affection for the late mother and her daughter.
The community is struggling to come to terms with their deaths, including neighbour Miriama Terangi.
“They lived on our street, so it’s just right to be here,” Terangi said.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven said a lot of people were in shock.
“To lose someone like that in such tragic circumstances is just horrific,” Raven said.
The house remains a crime scene with a heavy police presence in place.
Alongside the police tape, flowers are growing by the bunch on their front lawn.
Yesterday, police said they were keen to speak to Seers as part of their investigation.
“Our investigations are focusing heavily on the nature of their relationship and those living arrangements at that house,” Ahearn said.
“Our minds are open as to what’s gone on here.”
Anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam is urged to come forward to police.
The investigation is ongoing.
