In the early hours of the morning, police identified a van of interest linked to an ongoing investigation, traveling down Leakes Road in Truganina at approximately 4 a.m.
Officers discreetly tailed the vehicle as it proceeded along the West Gate Freeway, eventually taking the Kings Way exit and heading towards the city.
Authorities attempted to halt the van’s progress by deploying stop sticks on Kings Way, which succeeded in slowing it down. However, the driver reportedly refused to stop.
The pursuit escalated until it was terminated for safety reasons when the van veered onto the wrong side of the road.
Shortly thereafter, a head-on collision occurred between the van and another car on the Kings Way Bridge.
The driver of the van sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was transported to the hospital under police supervision.
Two males in the car suffered injuries and were treated at the scene.
Police allegedly found a large amount of drugs in the van.
Kings Way remains shut in both directions this morning and an investigation is underway.
