In a startling incident in Pennsylvania, a man was apprehended after forcibly entering a family’s home, shattering their kitchen window. Claiming to be an agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), he demanded to see identification documents and attempted to make off with a video game console.
The dramatic sequence unfolded in Pittsburgh’s Beltzhoover neighborhood on a Saturday night, drawing a swift response from local law enforcement. As reported by KDKA, police officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of an active burglary. En route, they received word that a resident had subdued the intruder, rendering him unconscious.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect, later identified as William Gregory, lying unconscious on the floor. Nearby, a 17-year-old boy stood in the doorway nursing injuries to both his ankle and hand, authorities reported.
Details from WTAE reveal that Gregory had forcibly entered the residence, posing as an ICE agent. With a pocketknife in hand, he demanded to see the family’s paperwork and attempted to steal a PlayStation console and its controllers.
The situation escalated further when Gregory seized the teenager’s cell phone, prompting the young man to defend himself. In the ensuing struggle, the teenager managed to land a punch on Gregory, knocking him out.
Once Gregory regained consciousness, he resisted arrest, leading to a tense standoff with law enforcement. According to KDKA, it took several officers and the use of a taser to finally subdue him and bring the chaotic episode to a close.
Medics arrived on the scene and sedated the fake ICE officer then took him to Mercy Hospital for an evaluation. Police said he appeared heavily intoxicated and possibly under the influence of drugs.
The officers learned he had outstanding warrants, including for burglary and possession of a firearm.
Gregory is charged with ethnic intimidation and burglary and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail, WTAE reported.
