A man from Florida, known as “Sugar Daddy,” is currently in custody after he allegedly shot two individuals at a motel, resulting in one fatality and critically wounding the other, reportedly due to frustration over his car being towed.

Ronald James Davis, aged 51, faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder following a shooting incident that took place around 4:30 a.m. on a Sunday at the Plantation Motel located in Plantation, a city in South Florida near Fort Lauderdale. Based on a probable cause arrest affidavit, authorities discovered a male victim face down in a pool of blood and a female victim inside a room, both having sustained gunshot injuries.

The woman allegedly identified Davis as the shooter before she lost consciousness due to blood loss and went into surgery.

In discussions with detectives, four witnesses recounted what transpired. They reported that Davis arrived at the hotel upset because he had just been issued a traffic citation and his vehicle was towed, as detailed in the affidavit. He confronted the female victim, threatening physical harm if she didn’t settle a debt with him. Although Davis departed, he returned roughly an hour later, forcefully knocking at the motel room door in agitation, according to the affidavit.

Davis walked into the room and allegedly started shooting. The male victim, who was standing by the bed, was hit by the gunfire. The suspect walked around the room shooting, cops wrote. As he was shooting, he allegedly said “All ya’ll gonna learn today.” He walked up to the woman victim and shot her before again shooting the man, police allege. Witnesses said they saw Davis leave the room with an “angry look on his face” before he hopped in a truck and drove away, per the affidavit.

Cops located Davis and arrested him. According to detectives, he ignored most of their questions but did say “I’m going to do you a favor, check the text messages.” He declined to elaborate.

Davis is at the Broward County Jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday.

The victims have not been publicly identified.
