Texas police have arrested a man after a 6-month-old girl was reportedly found dead in a hot car on Tuesday.
According to Heath police, a young girl was tragically found deceased in a car outside Rockwall Heath High School. An investigation revealed that 36-year-old Camerone Leichman, who had recently taken on the responsibility of caring for the infant, neglected to take her to daycare after dropping his wife off at the high school, as reported by KXAS.
Authorities suspect that the baby remained in the car for the entire day outside the couple’s residence. She was only discovered when Leichman returned to the high school to pick up his wife, according to reports by KXAS.
Authorities suspect the 6-month-old was in the car for eight hours. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since then, Heath police announced Leichman’s arrest on charges of injury to a child. Bond has not been set.
The 6-month-old girl is reportedly the 25th child to die in a hot car this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 39 children died in hot cars in 2024.
