Just after the new year, Ashley Elkins leaves home early in the morning. Her family sees her wearing a long black coat with fur around the hood, black leggings, and showing her light freckles. Ten minutes later, Ashley’s mother, Monika Elkins, arrives at the house to share a dream she had with her daughter.
Ashley leaves home on January 2 at 8:30 a.m. Ten minutes later, Monika arrives, hoping to tell Ashley about her dream. Realizing she has just missed her daughter, Monika sends Ashley a text describing the dream. In it, Monika dreamt of Ashley taking her mother’s truck while leaving her own car in the driveway.
Ashley replies with the words, “Awe, man,” a response Monika finds strange and uncharacteristic. Concerned, Monika immediately attempts a FaceTime call, but Ashley does not answer.
Family members try to contact Ashley with limited success. Hours after Monika’s unanswered FaceTime call, another family member receives a text from Ashley, stating she is going to a beauty supply store. This type of communication
is unusual for Ashley, according to her family. Monika notes that Ashley’s phone is turned off shortly after the text about the beauty supply store, only to be turned back on later
