A Minnesota resident alleges that his wife leapt from his moving vehicle on Saturday, leading to her tragic death under its wheels.

Jeremy Michael Davidson, aged 48, faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, as detailed in a criminal complaint filed against him.

The complaint reports that deputies from Sibley County responded to an incident that was initially believed to be a vehicular accident. Upon arrival, they discovered Davidson’s pickup truck stationary in the roadway, its engine still running, with Davidson himself sprawled across the vehicle.

Emergency personnel located his wife, identified as 46-year-old Melissa Davidson, and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later declared deceased.

According to the deputies, Davidson exhibited signs of alcohol consumption, such as the odor on his breath and slurred speech. He had been the one to contact 911, admitting that both he and his wife had been drinking prior to the incident. On their journey home, an argument erupted, and Melissa allegedly began hitting him in anger. He recounted that he asked her to desist, at which point she supposedly opened the door and exited the moving truck.

The circumstances of how the vehicle struck her after she exited remain unclear. However, during the 911 call, Davidson stated that she “jumped out of the vehicle and was run over.”

Deputies said Davidson unable to complete field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer test. They later obtained a warrant for a blood sample and sent that off for analysis.

The complaint says that Davidson was very talkative while being transported to jail, saying numerous times that he “killed my wife.”

“Prison. I am going to prison, she’s dead,” he said at one point and “I don’t know why the f*** would you jump out of a truck doing 50 miles per hour. Why would you do that?”

“Just gets drunk, jumps out of a f****** truck,” he said. “Make it make sense.”

At another point, he said he’d “go (to prison) for life. Just bring my wife back.”

According to the complaint, Davidson had a prior DWI conviction in 2007.

According to WBRC, Davidson’s bail was set at $100,000 with conditions and $500,000 without. Law&Crime said he was released from jail on Tuesday with conditions that included electronic monitoring and avoiding alcohol and drugs.

He is due in court again on January 29, 2026.
