Justice Served: Gainesville Man Receives 50-Year Sentence for Fatal Home Invasion

By Staff Writer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At the age of 32, Alderious Jerrad White has been handed a 50-year prison sentence after entering a plea of no contest to charges of homicide and armed burglary. This verdict follows his involvement in a deadly home invasion robbery that resulted in the death of a woman on July 19, 2022. In connection with the same incident, Jason Travis Ward received a 30-year prison term, while Tiara Lanae Luckey was sentenced to 15 years of probation for acting as the getaway driver.

According to police accounts, the crime unfolded when Ward forcefully entered the house by kicking down the door. White then entered with a firearm, and during the invasion, he encountered D’halani Armstrong and fatally shot her. The situation escalated when White was shot by one of the victims and subsequently apprehended at the scene.

Just days before his trial was set to commence, White chose to plead no contest to several charges: homicide during a burglary, armed burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He also faced charges in two separate cases related to cashing fraudulent checks. Judge Robert Groeb imposed two concurrent 50-year sentences for the first two charges, alongside a concurrent 15-year sentence for the firearm possession charge. Additionally, White was credited with time served, amounting to 1,193 days, on the other charges. The judge emphasized that White is required to continue providing truthful testimony against his co-defendants in the ongoing home invasion robbery case.
