Police have lifted an emergency warning for locals on the Sunshine Coast after gunshots were fired on the Bruce Highway.
Shots were allegedly fired on the Bruce Highway in Coles Creek, Gympie at 12.45pm, with police rushing to the scene.
Police said two people were target shooting on a private property on Maher Road, however, nearby members of the public called police after hearing the shots.
An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act, with an exclusion zone set in both directions of the Bruce Highway.
Locals were told to stay inside and lock their doors while motorists were told to avoid the area until the declaration was lifted. 
There are no reports of any injuries and no ongoing threat to the public.
No arrests have been made. 
A man and a woman are assisting police with their enquiries.
