A Louisiana woman was arrested this week for the murder of her 8-month-old son.
Franklinton Police indicated that Sterling Rogers arrived at Riverside Medical Center on March 12 with various injuries, including both healing and fresh fractures, according to WGNO. The child was later transferred via air to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, where he passed away five days after being admitted.
The mother of the infant, Autumn Hano Harper, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is facing charges of first degree murder. Authorities mentioned that she confessed voluntarily, directly implicating herself in the murder of the boy.
Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown called the case “absolutely heartbreaking” and lauded his detectives work, according to WDSU.
Expressing condolences, Brown, a representative from the police department, commented, “This was a tragic event that will have a long-lasting effect on all involved. Our prayers go out to the family for the loss of this beautiful child.”
Harper is being held in the Washington Parish jail without bond, WVUE said.
