A mother allegedly opened fire on her child’s father during a child custody exchange in Louisiana over the weekend.
The police reported that Brett Daigle, aged 48, journeyed from Colorado to attend the meeting, which tragically turned violent in broad daylight, according to KLPC.
Randolyn Allen, the 43-year-old mother from Lake Charles, faces charges of second-degree murder following the fatal shooting that erupted on Saturday during the custody exchange, as outlined in a press release issued by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on South Perkins Ferry Road at around 2:30 p.m. responded to reports of gunfire.
During the initial investigation, investigators found that Allen started firing at the home. Daigle was shot several times and died at the scene.
Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses at the scene, including Allen.
“Upon arrival, deputies discovered Brett Daigle, 48, of Canyon City, CO, deceased,” mentioned a release from CPSO. “During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that [Allen] had fired a weapon at the location amid a child custody exchange. Daigle was hit multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Allen was subsequently booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Bond is currently pending.
