David Garland III Charged in Lynchburg Shooting

An unfortunate event of an alleged shooting incident transpired in Lynchburg, which resulted in the apprehension of David Garland III, a 21-year-old resident of Lynchburg. Alarms for a person with a gunshot wound prompted Lynchburg Police Department personnel to respond immediately to a residence in the 1000 block of Polk Street. An immediate transport to the hospital was arranged for the female victim, who was discovered with a non-lethal gunshot wound to the leg.

According to investigators, the suspect and victim were linked by an argument that led to the gunfire. As of present, the event is limited and poses no harm to the neighborhood. Three of the juveniles there were unharmed, which was a relief.

David Garland III is currently incarcerated without parole at Blue Ridge Regional Jail. He has been charged with trespassing, malicious wounding, criminal firearm use, child endangerment, careless firearm handling, city limits discharge, and shooting inside an occupied dwelling. These charges emphasize the gravity of the situation and Garland’s legal risks. Risk assessments were conducted during the investigation, and R.S. Payne Elementary School prohibited exit and access and Dunbar Middle School locked down.
