Boyfriend Leaves Pregnant Girlfriend With Brain Bleed, Says He Can’t Go to Jail Because of ‘Brace’ in His Leg

A Michigan man faces assault charges following allegations that he violently attacked his pregnant girlfriend, causing a severe brain injury. According to reports, 29-year-old Dylan Lee Haddix is accused of slamming the 39-year-old woman into a wall and the floor, which resulted in a brain bleed.

In a disturbing sequence of events, Haddix purportedly drove the injured woman to a Walmart to purchase Tylenol, despite her pleas for a hospital visit, as reported by MLive. The situation escalated when, upon their return from the store, the woman suffered a seizure before even exiting the vehicle, which prompted Haddix to finally call 911 for help.

Upon her arrival at the hospital, medical staff quickly contacted the authorities. Police officers found Haddix waiting and he initially claimed that the woman had accidentally fallen, hitting her head on a wall corner. He explained that he noticed something amiss due to her slurred speech and opted for a Walmart visit instead of immediate medical attention.

The medical examination revealed significant injuries, including a large contusion on her forehead and multiple bruises on her neck and arms. Despite his earlier claims, Haddix feigned ignorance about how these injuries occurred.

During further questioning, Haddix recounted a 2014 motorcycle accident that allegedly impaired his memory. He eventually confessed to arguing with his girlfriend over her use of a gambling app. In a chilling admission, he described how he slammed her head against the wall and floor, saying, “I told you time and time again, don’t mess with my money.”

In an attempt to justify his actions, Haddix claimed he took her to Walmart because he was “in the helping mood and I like helping people.” The case continues to unfold as legal proceedings progress.

“I didn’t mean for this to happen and I feel terrible,” he said.

The woman regained consciousness the following day and told police that Haddix had gotten angry about their toddler crying “and he kind of pushed me” while she was holding the child.

She said that Haddix had been violent with her around 10 times, including months earlier when she was 10 weeks pregnant. She is currently five months pregnant.

When police went arrest Haddix on December 29, he told the officers he “wasn’t allowed to go to jail due to a brace that was on his leg.” He fought with officers and was ultimately also charged with assault while resisting arrest.

Haddix is being held on a $50,000 bond and is due in court on January 14.
