Man allegedly beat victim with traumatic brain injury

A Texas man is accused of assaulting someone already suffering from a traumatic brain injury — allegedly over a crude remark about a woman.

And when cops arrested the suspect, he allegedly threatened them from the back of the patrol car, saying “have fun dying.”

According to court documents, 20-year-old Tristian Thomas is still in the McLennan County Jail, facing charges that include injury to a disabled person, burglary, obstruction, and making terroristic threats towards a police officer.

The local CBS affiliate KWTX acquired an arrest affidavit revealing that Thomas attacked the victim by punching him, slamming him to the ground, and repeatedly stomping on him. The victim is said to have sustained a broken ankle along with injuries to his left ear and cheek. This event took place on May 18 in the 1300 block of Behrens Circle in Bellmead, located just outside of Waco.

The victim reportedly does not recall the assault because of an existing brain injury, but detectives have obtained video evidence of the incident. They managed to identify Thomas as the suspected attacker through the footage.

Thomas is additionally accused of trying to influence a witness who saw the beating. Cops arrested Thomas that same day during a traffic stop.

He proceeded to go on an alleged rant once in the back of the patrol vehicle.
