A man from Indiana, frustrated with ongoing disputes with his girlfriend, drew a gun and fatally shot her — discharging a bullet that knocked her down before allegedly firing again while standing over her, according to police reports.
Michael Miles, aged 53, residing in Fort Wayne, has been charged with murder following the Saturday night shooting of his girlfriend, Angela Marie Cobb, aged 52, at a home located on the 400 block of West Wildwood Avenue. Authorities state that Miles was apprehended in the vicinity roughly two hours after the 6:30 p.m. incident.
“After gathering witness statements and evidence information, officers identified Michael T. Miles as the suspect,” the Fort Wayne Police Department said in a press release. “Following diligent investigative work, officers located Miles near Bowser and McKinnie Avenues and arrested him without incident.”
Charging documents obtained by local ABC affiliate WPTA allege that Miles spoke to police investigators about what happened Saturday. Cops say he told investigators that he was arguing with Cobb and “had enough” of it, so he took out his gun and shot her four times.
Surveillance video viewed by authorities allegedly shows Miles in the act, with him being seen on camera standing over Cobb and shooting her. He can also be seen grabbing the woman’s car keys and fleeing in her vehicle just minutes after killing her, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found Cobb lying in the street suffering from her gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. Cops say she was called by Miles to come pick him up at a house in the 400 block of West Wildwood due to him being intoxicated. It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol caused the alleged intoxication.
In addition to murder, Miles also got hit with a probation violation charge and an outstanding warrant in connection to previous crimes that he has committed, police say. He’s scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Tuesday for his initial hearing.
