An Ohio resident has admitted guilt in an assault case after boasting about a bar shooting incident.

Man arrested after allegedly shooting romantic rival at bar

Jacob Brady, aged 28, confessed to charges of felonious assault and evidence tampering on Monday, linked to a shooting that occurred in June. As part of his plea deal, two other charges related to firearms were dropped. Previously reported by Law&Crime, Brady was involved in a shooting that injured a 23-year-old man at Pat’s Bar in Dayton, Ohio, on the morning of June 22.

Authorities revealed that while in custody, Brady was heard bragging about the event, stating, “I’m gonna put that on a T-shirt — ‘BLAM, that boy down.’”

The confrontation stemmed from a romantic dispute between Brady and the victim. The victim was accompanied by a woman Brady was interested in, though, according to witnesses, she had no mutual interest in Brady.

Brady asserted that the victim had threatened him, but this claim was contradicted by witness testimonies from the bar. Surveillance footage from the establishment backed up these accounts, showing Brady firing at the victim. The victim managed to get to a hospital using a ride-share service and survived the incident.

Brady claimed that the other man was threatening him, which police said was not supported by witnesses who were at the bar before the shooting. Police were able to obtain surveillance video from inside the bar, which corroborated the witnesses’ account of events. Brady was seen on that video firing at the victim, who took a ride-share to the hospital. He survived his injuries.

After Brady was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, inmates told police that they overheard him “laughing” about the incident and bragging, “I’m gonna put that on a T-shirt — ‘BLAM, that boy down.’”

Brady is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 8.
