Man stabs mother of his child 19 times in front of her 2-year-old, then makes sure to clean his hands before consoling toddler, cops say

Roberto Buffill-Paredes (WKYT).

A man from Kentucky is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing the mother of his child nearly 20 times in the presence of their 2-year-old daughter. After the alleged attack, he reportedly cleaned his hands to comfort the child before wrapping the woman’s body in blankets.

Roberto Buffill-Paredes, 43, has been charged with murder, corpse abuse, and evidence tampering in connection with the death of Anisleys Font Lantaron in Lexington. Police were called to a residence on the 2500 block of Larkin Road around 10:45 a.m. on January 15. Upon arrival, officers discovered Lantaron with multiple stab wounds, and she was declared dead at the scene.

During a hearing on Monday, aimed at deciding if there is sufficient evidence to present the case to a grand jury, Detective James Chism provided testimony. According to a report from WKYT, a local CBS affiliate, Chism revealed that Lantaron had been stabbed in the torso, left arm, upper back, and the back of her neck.

Detective Chism noted that Buffill-Paredes himself called 911 to report the stabbing. Subsequently, another call was made to dispatchers, requesting a welfare check on Lantaron.

The suspect allegedly confessed to stabbing Lantaron in the kitchen. He then proceeded to wash his hands and clean the crime scene and the weapons used. After this, he reportedly went to console his daughter. He told police that he moved Lantaron’s body from the kitchen to the living room, wrapped it in blankets, and secured it with tape, according to Chism.

“He claimed he did this to shield his daughter from witnessing the incident,” Chism stated, as reported by WKYT.

Defense attorney Marcel Radomile indicated the victim and his client may have had a child custody dispute.

“He was the primary caregiver for their daughter and he’s hoping to be one day reunited,” Radomile said.

The case can now go to a grand jury, which will determine whether to indict Buffill-Paredes as charged. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
