In a dramatic incident at the Royal Adelaide Hospital today, paramedics attending to a 32-year-old stab wound victim found themselves in a perilous situation. While waiting in a hospital bay, they were allegedly confronted by a man brandishing a knife, who reportedly made threats against both the medical personnel and the patient.
The paramedics and their patient managed to escape into the safety of the hospital without sustaining any injuries. Meanwhile, the alleged assailant fled the scene in a white 2015 Porsche Macan, bearing Victorian license plates.
As the situation unfolded, heavily armed police launched a pursuit, tracking the luxury vehicle onto the Southeastern Freeway. In a strategic move to apprehend the suspect, authorities temporarily closed the southbound lanes.
The chase concluded near Mount Osmond when the driver, identified as a 27-year-old man from Victoria, decided to pull over. Upon stopping, he was swiftly taken into custody by the police, as confirmed by SA Police Assistant Commissioner John De Candia.
Investigations have revealed that earlier in the day, the stabbing victim had reportedly escaped from the same white Porsche at a BP service station on Marion Road in Netley around 1:30 pm. This earlier event ties into the broader narrative of the day’s unsettling events.
Police believe the stabbing victim earlier escaped the same white Porsche at a BP service station on Marion Road in Netley about 1.30pm.
He sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his thigh, hands and face.
The ambulance was called for the man after emergency services received reports about a person jumping fences in nearby homes.
He was eventually loaded into an ambulance not far away and taken to hospital.
Police are still investigating at what point the victim was stabbed and whether the alleged offender followed the ambulance to hospital.
9News understands the two men involved had travelled to Adelaide from Victoria.
No charges have been laid.
“We believe that these persons, who are not cooperating with police at this time, that’s the victim and the offender, are known to each other,” De Candia said.
“It’s most likely, whilst it’s early in the investigation, some type of feud between those persons.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information or who may have seen the white Porsche in the Marion Road area to contact police.
