'The tracker comes in handy': Man stalked ex-girlfriend by showing up to her house, workplace and blowing up her phone with threatening text messages, cops say

Brian Neilinger (Broward County Jail).

In a troubling case from Florida, a man named Brian Neilinger has been accused of stalking his former girlfriend by placing a tracking device on her vehicle and making unwelcome appearances at both her home and workplace. The situation escalated with a barrage of text messages, some of which allegedly included threats to forcefully enter her residence.

The 46-year-old Neilinger is now facing charges of aggravated stalking and illegally installing a tracking device. According to the arrest affidavit, the couple had recently ended their relationship after living together. On a recent Wednesday, the victim reached out to authorities in Broward County, reporting that Neilinger had come to her house and caused damage to a neighbor’s mailbox in the process.

Throughout the morning, the victim received a relentless stream of text messages from Neilinger, some of which contained threats, she reported to the deputies. The situation turned more alarming when, at 5 a.m., Neilinger allegedly arrived at her home, banging on the door and behaving aggressively, as noted in the affidavit. This confrontation ended with Neilinger leaving in a hurry, hitting a neighbor’s mailbox with his truck.

Additionally, it is alleged that Neilinger made an appearance at the victim’s workplace, lingering there for several hours. The affidavit also reveals that the victim was alerted to the presence of a tracking device via notifications on her phone, with Neilinger purportedly acknowledging the device in his text communications.

Too late I’m here in the car…answer the door or I’ll break the f—ing thing down

I will f—ing run that f—ing house over with my truck right now

I’m going to f— you both up real quick

I will f— everybody up. I really don’t care

The victim said Neilinger showed up outside her home, banging on the door at 5 a.m. “screaming and acting belligerently,” according to the affidavit. When the woman’s new boyfriend confronted him outside, Neilinger sped away in his truck, striking the neighbor’s mailbox in the process, cops wrote.

Neilinger previously showed up at her workplace and stayed for several hours, cops alleged.

Detectives also reported the victim received alerts on her phone that a tracking device was following her. Neilinger allegedly referenced the device in text messages.

“I’m f—ed up still I don’t know if I’ll ever be normal … Maybe one day I will,” the suspect wrote, per cops. “The tracker comes in handy.”

Cops were unable to find any device on her car. Texts indicated that he may have removed the device.

Neilinger allegedly tried to punch one of the deputies as they were trying to arrest him. Deputies wrestled him to the ground, causing several lacerations to his face. Cops tacked on charges of resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement officer. He’s at the Broward County Jail on an $18,500 bond.
