A man will front court after allegedly striking and killing a woman with his car in Sydney’s west earlier this week.
Police arrived at Macquarie Avenue in Penrith following reports that a pedestrian was struck by a car before it sped away from the scene.
A woman in her 60s was treated by paramedics but she could not be revived.
She has not yet been formally identified.
Following an investigation and an appeal for information, a 20-year-old man was arrested at a home on Taloma Street in Penrith at 10.40pm yesterday.
He was taken to St Mary’s police station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving and other offences.
He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
