A man allegedly told cops he opened fire out a window because of bad tooth pain and stress, according to officers in Lincoln, Maine. Christopher Bean, 22, is charged with discharging a firearm near a dwelling and reckless conduct with a firearm.
Officers said they responded Sunday to Spring Street regarding a report of shot fires. Bean “was allegedly using a handgun on the premises,” they said.
“Upon arrival at the scene, Sergeant Mason, Officer Winslow, Officer MacDonald, and Deputy Watt established a perimeter near the intersection of Spring Street and West Broadway,” police wrote. “Officers observed Bean outside the residence and were able to make contact with him and ultimately detained Bean without incident. Following his detention he was found in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun. During questioning, Bean admitted to discharging the firearm from an upstairs window due to severe tooth pain and stress.”
Officers claim shell casings from outside the home matched his gun.
“The trajectory of Bean’s shots indicated potential danger to areas including Katahdin Avenue and Depot Street, frequented by pedestrians and construction workers,” they said. “Bean’s actions posed a significant risk of serious bodily harm to individuals in these locations.”
Officers locked him up at the Penobscot County Jail. He posted a $250 bond that same day, sheriff’s office Lt. Jason Raymond told Law&Crime.
