Authorities began searching for Jacob Mayhugh after discovering the deceased family inside their residence on May 11, as reported by CrimeOnline. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation located an AR-15 type rifle near the entrance of the home. Investigators confirmed that the serial number on the rifle corresponded to one purchased by Jacob Mayhugh on April 25. Additionally, it is claimed that he bought a 9mm handgun at the same time, which was also discovered in the residence, along with used shell casings.
Mayhugh was later found in downtown Oklahoma City and arrested.
He reportedly confessed to killing his family members and said that he planned “to commit additional acts of violence,” prosecutors said.
According to KFOR, Mayhugh pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty.
