A suspect’s car after apparently crashing into a home (Westminster (Colo.) Police)
In Colorado, a man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to run over his ex-girlfriend’s mother and subsequently crashing his SUV into her house, as well as another “unrelated” home. Authorities are describing the event as a domestic disturbance.
The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was apprehended after what the Westminster Police Department termed “a domestic disturbance incident in the Hyland Greens neighborhood,” according to a statement released on Sunday. Officers responded at approximately 10:45 a.m. to “reports of two separate incidents involving a vehicle and private residences,” as detailed in the statement.
According to investigators, the driver — who has not been publicly identified — was initially looking for his ex-girlfriend’s family.
“Preliminary information suggests that the suspect initially rammed his vehicle into his ex-girlfriend’s mother’s home and then fled the scene,” the statement notes. “He reportedly then crashed into an unrelated residence. Afterward, he returned and allegedly attempted to run over his ex-girlfriend’s mother several times before ramming his vehicle into her home once more.”
Neighbors apparently intervened and were able to detain the man until police arrived and took him into custody.
“No serious injuries have been reported,” the statement noted. The homes were being assessed for “structural damage.”
Hyland Greens is located around 15 miles north of Denver.
