An entrance to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, served as the tragic endpoint for Lively Crue Colindres-Nunez, who was transported there and later succumbed to her injuries. Corbin Lee Nunez’s image, sourced from the 43rd Prosecutorial District Attorney’s Office, adds a face to the case.

A North Carolina man who killed his infant daughter has been told where he will be spending the next several decades of his life.

At the age of 25, Corbin Lee Nunez received a prison sentence of up to 38 years after admitting guilt to charges of second-degree murder and felony child abuse, as announced by District Attorney Ashley Hornsby Welch of the 43rd Prosecutorial District. The tragic events leading to the death of Lively Crue Colindres-Nunez unfolded in Graham County, within the jurisdiction of the state’s 43rd Prosecutorial District.

On February 11, 2022, Lively’s mother departed from the Robbinsville home she shared with Nunez to attend her classes at Haywood Community College, approximately 70 miles away. Later that evening, she received a distressing phone call.

Around 10:15 p.m., Nunez contacted her with alarming news, claiming that the baby had become unresponsive, as detailed by the district attorney. Urging him to call for emergency assistance, the infant was subsequently rushed to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. The location of Robbinsville places it near the border between western North Carolina and Tennessee.

Lively died at the hospital on Feb. 12, 2022.

An autopsy revealed that the baby died due to blunt force injuries, authorities confirmed. On February 21, 2022, Corbin Lee Nunez was apprehended, and a judge ordered that he be detained without the possibility of bail, as documented in court records.

His case lingered for more than three years, until he pleaded guilty on Sept. 18.
