Victor Colon (Miami-Dade Department of Corrections).
Authorities in Florida took a man into custody more than a year after he was accused of threatening someone with a firearm, pulling the trigger just after removing the bullet from the chamber.
Victor Colon, aged 62, faces charges of armed robbery related to an event that took place in Miami-Dade County on December 14, 2023. According to jail records, he was detained on Wednesday. The local ABC station WPLG acquired a probable cause affidavit highlighting that the alleged victim and his father reported the incident to police approximately three days after it happened.
The alleged victim reported being at his mother’s residence engaged in video gaming when Colon aggressively entered his room, shouting profanities. According to the affidavit, the victim started recording with his phone and attempted to flee, but Colon stopped him by grabbing his shirt. Colon allegedly drew a gun and took the victim’s phone away.
The suspect reportedly pressed the firearm to the victim’s head and said, “I should kill you.” At one point, Colon allegedly unchambered a round from the gun and again put it on the victim’s head before pulling the trigger.
Colon also allegedly said, “I should bury you in the back with the rest of them.” He then asked the victim’s mother if he should shoot her son, but she replied, “No.” Colon started slapping the victim in the face, the complaint reportedly said.
The victim ran from the home when Colon was going to the bathroom, cops said.
It’s unclear what led to Colon’s arrest nearly two years later. He did not have a lawyer listed in court records.
Colon is reportedly a friend of the alleged victim’s mother.
As of Thursday afternoon, he remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
