A flag-waving man wearing camouflage pants, a “Trump 2020″ sweatshirt, a helmet, and goggles, who posted a video of himself on a scaffold at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, on his TikTok account, “petekrilldontgiveaf—,” is going to prison for it, authorities said this week.
Peter Michael Krill, Jr., 55, of New Jersey, was sentenced to nine months in federal prison with 12 months of supervised release. He was ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution, authorities said in a news release. Krill pleaded guilty in October to a felony charge of civil disorder.
He went to Washington, D.C. for the “Stop the Steal” rally and then walked to the U.S. Capitol building with a crowd to protest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College, officials said.
In one video, Krill can be seen shouting at officers behind a barricade on the west side of the U.S. Capitol building, court documents said. At 1:35 p.m., Krill can be seen in police body camera footage grabbing part of a bike rack barricade and pulling it away from officers, allowing rioters to break through. He climbed the Capitol steps and through scaffolding. While up there, he filmed himself and posted on TikTok.
At 2:36 p.m., he joined rioters entering the Capitol, ignoring commands to leave. He was among the last to leave at about 3:23 p.m.
He was arrested on Dec. 15, 2022, after tips came into FBI agents from people who’d seen the TikTok video. A coworker tipped off agents that “Pete” — Krill — owned a construction company in New Jersey.
Agents interviewed a tipster who’d known Krill for years and said Krill was missing the pinky finger on his right hand. The tipster noted in a picture that the pinky finger on the individual’s right hand appeared missing.
His public defender did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Law&Crime.
