Police have released an image of a man wanted as part of investigation into an alleged fight and shooting that left two men in a critical condition on the Gold Coast.
Police are searching for Mitchell Barnes, 30, as they probe what began as a disturbance at a unit block on Peninsular Drive at Surfers Paradise about 2am today.
A man and a woman were allegedly fighting inside a unit when three men, including a 44-year-old neighbour, intervened.
The group of men then allegedly began to fight outside the units and a 21-year-old man was shot twice in his stomach and received a cut to his upper back.
The 44-year-old neighbour suffered cuts across his body.
Emergency services arrived and gave the pair first aid before they were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in critical but stable condition.
A 23-year-old man also suffered minor injuries during the alleged fight and is in stable condition.
Police arrived to find the 30-year-old man allegedly at the centre of the incident had fled the scene in a white Mazda hatchback and a gun ditched nearby.
The car has since been located on Prosperity Drive at Helensvale.
According to police, the man then allegedly fled the scene in a second car, a 2005 black Toyota Camry sedan with New South Wales registration plates DL48YW.
Police ask anyone who may know Barnes’ whereabouts to contact them immediately. The public is urged not to approach him if sighted.
The woman involved in the initial fight with the man is also urged to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
