The founders of a successful online fundraising campaign recently delivered life-changing news to Bondi hero Ahmed El Ahmed during a hospital visit, revealing that he is now a multi-millionaire.

Ahmed gained international fame for his courageous actions in disarming one of the gunmen involved in the Bondi incident. His brave intervention, despite being unarmed, left him hospitalized with several gunshot wounds.

Zachery Dereniowski, a co-organizer of the fundraiser known on Instagram as @mdmotivator, shared a heartfelt video capturing the moment he presented Ahmed with a cheque exceeding $2.5 million while at his hospital bedside.

Upon receiving the cheque, Ahmed expressed his disbelief, asking, “I deserve it?”

When Dereniowski inquired about what Ahmed would like to say to those who contributed, Ahmed encouraged unity and compassion, stating, “To stand with each other, all human beings, and forget everything bad from the past, and keep going to save lives.”

He said he had acted from the heart when he took on the gunman, having seen people enjoying a wonderful day together and that being disrupted.

“This country, best country in the world … but we’re not going to stand back and watch,” he said.
