A south Florida doctor has been arrested and charged with attempted sex trafficking of a young girl.

An arrest affidavit says that the investigation into 26-year-old Alan Li, then a resident at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, on March 12 when an Ohio woman contacted federal agents to say Li was seeking young girls in the Miami area for “a friend,” WCMH reported.

The woman told investigators that she met Li more than a year ago on a dating app and had been with him for a night — when she told him she had been sex-trafficked as a child — but lost contact until he reached out to her in March.

“You said you were trafficked, right? Li wrote. “My friend wants to meet young girls and he is willing to pay, can you help him out?”

Li told her his friend’s name was “Michael Chen” and put “Chen” in touch with her. The woman told investigators she suspected Li and Chen to be the same person, and agents found that Li would log out of his Snapchat account and log into one set up for Chen — on the same IP address registered to his house.

After contacting the FBI, the woman allowed an undercover agent to take over her Snapchat account, WTVJ reported. The undercover agent then set up “Chen” with a phone number for another agent, posing as a trafficker.

According to an affidavit, Chen agreed to pay $500 for sex with a 12-year-old for an hour, preferably using Bitcoin or cash so he didn’t have to leave his social security number. Then he discussed with the trafficker a “long-term set up” like the “live-in situation” he said he had in Ohio with a 13-year-old girl.

The two arranged to meet on April 12 for the one hour deal, but Li/Chen cancelled and contacted to woman to find out how reliable the “trafficker” was.

The trafficker/agent contact Li/Chen again on April 29, and they chatted back and forth about available girls before Li/Chen again agreed to a meet-up, which also never materialized.

Agents arrested him on May 12 after concluding that even though none of the plans he made with the trafficker came to fruition, they had enough evidence to show attempted trafficking.

Li, who was fired from Mount Sinai, is due in federal court on Friday. He has been charged with attempted sex trafficking of a minor under 14 and attempted coercion or enticement of a minor.
