A Milam County Man’s Charges

A Milam County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for multiple charges of child assault. Jamarr Zamora, the Milam County man, was arrested and charged in 2020 with three counts of assaulting a child.

The trial for the Milam County man’s case was delayed due to the pandemic but was considered a high-priority case. The Milam County man pleaded guilty to the charges with no plea agreement for a lesser sentence.

The district court judge gave the Milam County man the maximum sentence of 20 years for each charge to be served concurrently. The first assistant district attorney, Brian Price, expressed satisfaction with the verdict of the Milam County man and highlighted the importance of cases involving child assault.

The Milam County man met his victims through social media apps, emphasizing the dangers of child exploitation online. Advocacy groups highlighted the vulnerability of children and emphasized the need for parents to talk to their children about these risks.

According to a published article by KBTX News 3, the Milam County man is also facing similar charges in Brazos County for incidents in 2022 and is scheduled to appear in court for those charges in February. This sentencing is intended to send a strong message that child abuse will not be tolerated in Milam County.
