A frightening incident unfolded for Traci Grimes when a teenager on an e-bike hurled a brick at her while she was unloading groceries, holding her infant child.
The brick narrowly missed the baby by mere centimeters.
“Honestly, it could have been fatal for him,” Grimes shared with 9News.
“I’m incredibly grateful it hit me instead of him.”
Residing in Clarkson, Grimes, a mother of two, has found herself amidst what authorities describe as a rise in dangerous street antics. Incidents include rocks and water balloons being thrown at vehicles, vandalism of homes, and stunts recorded for social media.
“Just moments after we secured our large wooden door, they returned and tossed another large brick at our roller blinds,” Grimes recounted.
“The thought of them probably roaming the street right now with their friends causing even more damage is the most upsetting part.”
WA Police have launched a major crackdown on teens terrorising the area, with helicopters and drones being deployed.
Officers are also ramping up their street presence after the surge in violent incidents.
Joondalup detectives this week launched Operation Moorhead to crack down on dangerous behaviour linked to e-rideables.
Three teens have already been charged, and 11 e-rideables seized are set to be destroyed.
