A Tennessee woman was arrested last week after her daughter’s body was reportedly found in her hotel room.
On July 10, Shelby County deputies conducted a welfare check at the Home Inn Suites and allegedly stumbled upon the body of Kimberly Moore’s daughter. As reported by WMC, a court has ordered a psychological assessment for the 46-year-old Moore, who faces charges of corpse abuse and not reporting her daughter’s death.
The situation escalated when a hotel manager called the police on Moore, who claimed she was present to ensure the hotel’s operations ran smoothly, asserting her husband owned the place. Concerns heightened after deputies detected a foul smell coming from Moore’s room, as noted by WHBQ.
Moore reportedly insisted she did not notice any odor, even as deputies located her daughter, Chloe Moore, lying unresponsive on the hotel bed. Authorities described the child as appearing mummified and undernourished.
Arresting police officers determined that Kimberly Moore was experiencing a mental health crisis. She refused to answer questions regarding her daughter, stating she “is still here with her” and “God is with her and her daughter,” according to WHBQ.
WMC reported that investigators have not ruled out foul play in Chloe Moore’s death. Her cause of death remains undetermined as of Tuesday.
Kimberly Moore is due back in court on Tuesday. She remains jailed on $5,000 bond.
