A Texas woman allegedly shot her four children on Saturday, killing two of them.
Oninda Romelus, 31, reportedly drove to a gas station in Angleton where she made a 911 call. Deputies who arrived found O’Karreo Covington, 13, deceased in the front passenger seat with a gunshot wound to the head, and Amourra Chapell, 3, dead in the backseat, as reported by KHOU.
Romelus’ two other children — a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy — were said to have suffered gunshot wounds to the arm. They were taken to the hospital and are cooperating with investigators.
Surveillance footage showed Romelus purchasing $56 worth of gas while on the phone with 911, KHOU reported.
Romelus, appearing paranoid, allegedly told the detectives, “Instead of them doing it to me, I’m gonna do it to them.” Upon questioning what “it” referred to, Romelus reportedly answered, “Kill them all.”
According to KPRC, Romelus also said her children were with the “devil” and “dead to her.”
The Daily Mail disclosed that Romelus was featured on “Paternity Court” in 2013 to identify the father of one of her sons. Romelus admitted to infidelity with two men, leading to uncertainty about the child’s paternity. A paternity test, however, revealed neither man was the father.
Authorities have not verified where the fatal shooting occurred. Romelus faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and remains detained on a $14 million bail.
