Over a year following the fatal shooting of a mother while she lay in bed with her three children, Florida authorities have apprehended her sometimes-boyfriend and his cousin. They are suspected of devising a plan to allegedly murder her under the guise of a home invasion robbery.
Saun Rainge Jr., aged 32, and Benjamin Garmon, 26, face charges of first-degree murder for the killing of 30-year-old Porshe Nikita Shanee Streeter, as stated in a press release. The investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office started on January 13, 2024, when they discovered Streeter deceased with ten gunshot wounds in her apartment, while Rainge had suffered a shoulder wound.

A 36-page affidavit for probable cause revealed that Rainge informed investigators he was entering the apartment to check on Streeter and their three children, aged 10, 2, and 1, when he was struck from behind. He alleged that the “home invader” entered and fired shots before fleeing. Rainge reported that the intruder took $2,000 in cash and three cellphones. After the alleged attacker escaped, Rainge, who was unarmed, claimed he pursued him, retrieving the stolen phones during the chase. Rainge further mentioned seeking assistance from his neighbors, but to no avail, according to the affidavit.
But in the following months, detectives began to pick apart Rainge’s story. People who knew the couple told investigators that the relationship between Rainge and Streeter was “toxic” and they would often break up and get back together again, the affidavit said. They were fighting on the night in question because Rainge took her phone charger and key to her apartment without permission, cops noted. While Rainge would sometimes stay the night, he lived elsewhere, and Streeter’s was the only name on the rental lease, cops said.
Other facts allegedly did not add up. A working surveillance camera showed the front door, but it didn’t capture the incident in question, and investigators believe Rainge deleted that footage. Detectives were also curious as to why the “home invader” was so accurate in shots fired toward Streeter but not so precise while shooting at Rainge, the affidavit said. It also didn’t make sense as to why Rainge would run after the man who just shot them while not armed himself, per cops.
Detectives also uncovered a brewing custody dispute between Rainge and Streeter and the fact that he had recently learned she had been hiding money from him, investigators wrote. He was also allegedly upset about her cheating on him and a text message from her in which she called him a “sissy.”
