Fugitive Mom Accused of Killing 6-Year-Old Son Now Faces More Charges

A Texas woman who fled to India while police investigated the disappearance of her 6-year-old son was indicted this week on new charges.

Cindy Rodriguez-Singh, who was apprehended in India last month and returned to Texas, now faces a murder charge related to the suspected death of Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez. On Monday, she was indicted on multiple charges, including abandoning a child with no intent to return, leaving a child without adequate care, and two counts of child injury, as reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Rodriguez-Singh has also been charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Before or after her capture in India, Rodriguez-Singh was placed on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list last month. This followed her October 2023 indictment for Rodriguez-Alvarez’s murder, as noted by CrimeOnline. On August 21, she returned to Texas to confront these charges.

Rodriguez-Alvarez was reported missing in March 2023. Following police questioning, Rodriguez-Singh, along with her husband, Arshdeep Singh, and their six children, fled to India later that month.

Noel was not on board that flight.

According to police, Noel was last seen in October 2022 after Rodriguez-Singh had twins. He appeared malnourished at that time. When her indictment was released, police stated Rodriguez-Singh referred to her son as “evil,” refused to feed or hydrate him to avoid changing his diaper, and struck him with car keys.

Rodriguez-Singh allegedly told relatives she sold her son to an unidentified woman, but police found no evidence for this. Additionally, they found no support for her claim that the child was living in Mexico with his biological father.

Rodriguez-Singh is being held in the Tarrant County jail on a $10 million bond.
