Heuermann pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney stated that Rex A. Heuermann who was sentenced multiple murder charges, was an architect residing in Massapequa Park.

Heuermann was sentenced with murder charges with three counts of first and second-degree murder and is presently under investigation for the murder of a fourth woman as her disappearance and death resembled Heuermann’s victims.

During the bail application, Tierney’s office requested for Heuermann to be kept in custody for the murder charges without bail. They noted that if Heuermann is convicted guilty for the murder charges, he could face multiple life sentences without a chance of receiving parole.

Detectives were able to connect Heuermann to the murders through DNA samples that they collected from leftover pizza crust with Heuermann’s DNA which he threw away in Manhattan in January, which matched with the crime scene.

The police have revealed that five of the 11 victims found in Gilgo Beach, were identified.

Heuermann who was sentenced with murder charges is said to have used a burner cellphone to contact three women who were advertising themselves as sex workers.

Heuermann, who was sentenced with murder charges bound the victims with belts or tape and wrapped some of their bodies in a burlap-type material.

The case is just beginning, according to Tierney, who made this statement at a press conference alongside law enforcement officers, federal agents, and the victims’ relatives.

Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison announced that his officers are currently investigating for possible additional murder charges.
