A Florida man is accused of murdering his wife inside their apartment, where authorities also found an infant with a garbage bag over its head, WFTS-TV reports.

On Friday, police were called to an apartment complex in Pinellas Park, near Tampa, after a man was seen with blood on his clothing in the breezeway of the complex.

Inside the apartment unit, officers found the body of 32-year-old Chrystal Williams, who appeared to have been stabbed multiple times. Medics rushed her to an area hospital, but she was pronounced dead.

Williams’ husband, 41-year-old Keyuhn Chambers, who was the man with blood on his shirt, fled the scene. Officers later found him and arrested him, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Officers also encountered a 4-month-old infant inside the apartment with a garbage bag over the child’s head. The infant was reportedly the child of Williams’ friend.

It did not appear that the child was injured physically, but medics brought the infant to a hospital for examination.

Authorities also noticed a strong chemical odor inside the apartment and called for a Haz-Mat team to investigate.

“The odor was coming from the apartment where this incident originated and so it is in essence a part of the crime scene. Obviously, we’re in the investigation part of the case so we have to determine what happened when,” Sgt. Roxanne Pohl with Pinellas Park Police told WFTS-TV.

Officials evacuated the apartment building as a precautionary measure.

Two first responders were sent to local hospitals because they had inhaled the unknown chemical; the responders were later released from the hospital.

Details about what led to the fatal stabbing have not yet been disclosed. It is not clear if Chambers was attempting to kill the child, but in addition to being charged with first-degree murder, he is also facing a charge of first-degree attempted murder, according to WFLA-TV.
