An unidentified couple may have uncovered crucial evidence linked to the disappearance of Nancy Gutherie, an 84-year-old woman from Arizona who has been missing for several weeks.
On February 11, while exploring Campbell Avenue in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills—just under a mile from Gutherie’s neighborhood—they stumbled upon what seemed to be a torn, blood-stained glove, as reported by KVOA.
“We found a black glove in the desert, which appeared ripped,” the woman explained.
“There seemed to be blood on it, particularly near the wrist and the index finger, suggesting it might have been used in a manner related to the search,” she added.
Additionally, the couple discovered a second glove about 10 feet away and noticed what they suspected to be blood droplets on a nearby rock.
Concerned that impending rain might wash away potential evidence, they promptly contacted 911.
“And also from the glove it looked like a blood drop on a rock underneath the glove was like dried blood or something. We didn’t move it or touch it. We immediately were like we have to do something. So I was like, ‘I will call the sheriff department,’” the husband said.
Law enforcement questioned the couple and allowed them to leave while they remained on site until approximately 2 a.m.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has not confirmed if the gloves the couple found are among those that are being tested and processed.
“We cannot confirm at this time. Detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area and analysis is part of the investigation.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, investigators believe someone took Nancy Guthrie, identified as the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, against her will from her Catalina Foothills home.
She was last seen on January 31 after family members dropped her off at home, following dinner. They reported her missing the following day, when she failed to show up for church.
KOVA reported that hundreds of calls come in daily to the Sheriff’s 911 Communications Center.
The department has received over 32,000 calls between February 1 through February 19.
